MYCLE COMPACT 2023

The Mycle Compact is a lightweight folding electric bike built for short urban commutes and city riding. It weighs 17.5kg and folds down to 85x67x44cm in around 10 seconds, making it small enough to fit under a desk, into a car, or onto public transport. The aluminium frame keeps the weight down without compromising strength, and the 700C wheels give it reasonable speed for moving through town, though the compact geometry does mean it's more manoeuvrable than speedy on longer stretches.

The bike uses a 250W 36V brushless rear hub motor paired with five levels of pedal assist, letting you dial in extra power when tackling hills or when you need a break from pedalling. The rear hub sits lower-key than a mid-drive motor would, keeping the frame cleaner and avoiding any awkwardness around the pedals. The motor responds quickly once you're in the pedal assist mode and delivers a quiet, smooth ride without much fuss. The derailleur gears give you gear options too, so you can work with the motor rather than against it depending on the terrain.

Everything runs through an LCD display on the handlebars, which shows your speed, distance, battery level, and lets you control the front LED light and adjust the pedal assist. There's a USB port built in to charge your phone as you ride, which is genuinely handy on longer trips. The bike is rated IPX5 for wet weather, so you're not stuck indoors during light rain. Charging happens simply by removing the seat post, which cleverly houses the removable battery. With realistic rider weights and moderate effort, you'll get around 30km range per charge.

The Mycle Compact suits commuters moving between home, office, and public transport without fuss. The lightweight frame and narrow handlebars make it particularly comfortable weaving through busy streets, and the fold means you can take it everywhere rather than locking it up outside. It's a practical tool for short daily journeys where you want the option of motor assist without the bulk or complexity of larger electric bikes.
