This is a matching pair of Mk2 Brompton folding bikes from 1992, available to buy together or separately. Both are early L3 or M3L models built with steel frames and the classic compact fold that Brompton is known for. The main differences between them are the frame colours – one is ivory, the other black – and the saddles, but otherwise they're identical machines. These are one careful owner from new, used only for brief leisure rides in fair weather and never taken on commuting or longer distances.

What makes these bikes stand out is how little they've aged. Both remain in timewarp condition with their original gloss paint finish still looking excellent, showing only light scratches and minor touch-ins from storage and normal folding use. The frame hinges show barely any wear where they clamp, and the steel has stayed rust-free throughout. The ivory model retains its original AFA tyre pump fitted to the frame, which is increasingly rare to find on bikes this old.

The original specification is comprehensive and largely intact. Both bikes still have their early rear triangle design, original Alesa alloy ridged wheels, upgraded folding pedals, and front frame-mounted luggage blocks. The Raleigh Record tyres remain on the rims with their centrelines clearly visible and new tread still present. The silver plastic mudguards are in excellent condition with minimal whitening or discolouration, and the original ribbed plastic handlebar grips, pedals, reflectors, and the large Patents Worldwide sticker are all there. The only non-original part across both bikes is the saddle – replaced with a more comfortable Velo padded version due to foam degradation from lifting the folded bike by the saddle, a common issue with older examples.

Both bikes run smoothly. The early side-pull caliper brakes engage cleanly, and the Sturmey Archer 3-speed hub gear mechanism shifts between all three gears without hesitation using the original SA thumb shifter. The chains and running gear are original, hardly worn, rust-free, and in excellent working order ready to ride. Everything has been carefully cleaned and checked over.

These would suit a Brompton collector looking for a genuine early Mk2 example, or someone wanting an original folding bike that still works reliably for short urban journeys. Both bikes are available for cash collection from Crowborough TN6, or they can be posted within the UK mainland using Parcelforce 48 with free delivery.
