dahon speed d7 folding bike
The Dahon Speed D7 is a folding bike built around Dahon's patented folding system, designed to give you a practical everyday commuter that folds down compact enough to carry onto trains or store in a flat. This particular model has been serviced by Sawley Cycles with a full hub overhaul, new chain and cassette, so mechanically it's ready to ride straight away.
The frame uses K Series 4130 chromoly steel with a lattice forged hinge that keeps the weight down to 12.5kg, making it manageable to carry when folded. When folded, the bike measures 77 × 64 × 30cm, which is compact enough to slip under a desk or into a luggage rack. The 20-inch tyres contribute to the tight fold and make the bike nimble in traffic, though they do require a bit more effort to maintain momentum on longer flat stretches compared to larger wheels. The hi-ten steel fork keeps the front end sturdy, and the adjustable alloy handlepost telescopes to suit different rider heights from 142cm to 193cm.
The drivetrain uses a 7-speed setup with a Shimano Tourney rear derailleur and a 52-tooth crankset, which gives you enough gears for moderate hills without overcomplicating things. The sealed-bearing hubs mean less frequent servicing, and the Winzip V-brakes provide reliable stopping power. Everything folds including the pedals, so there's nothing to get in the way when the bike is compacted. The maximum rider weight limit is 105kg.
This bike suits anyone commuting regularly with public transport, or anyone who needs to store a bike in tight spaces without sacrificing usable geometry. It's at home on urban journeys and mixed-mode trips, though riders tackling longer distances or steeper terrain might find the limited gearing and smaller wheels more demanding than a larger folding bike.
