This Dahon Mu P8 is a custom-built folding bike that's been stripped down and rebuilt with lightweight components to achieve a genuinely light 9kg package. Dahon's patented folding system makes it practical for commuters and urban cyclists who need to combine riding with public transport or store the bike in tight spaces, and this particular build takes that practicality further by keeping the overall weight minimal without compromising the drivetrain.

The build centres on a Racework 52t crankset paired with a Hollowtech bottom bracket, feeding into a Shimano Claris rear derailleur with a Sunrace 11-34 cassette and new 9-speed chain. Gear changes come through a Shimano Deore 9-speed trigger shifter, giving you enough range for moderate hills and flat urban terrain. The Rockbro 20-inch lightweight wheels with Joytech hubs keep rotational mass down, shod with Schwalbe Marathon Racer tyres that strike a balance between rolling speed and durability on city roads.

The contact points have been chosen for comfort and minimal weight. The Lightpro flat handlebar, 33cm stem, and seat post work together with ODI G3 ergonomic grips fitted with bar ends, while a leather Selle Italia saddle is included as standard. The aluminium frame is finished in blue with excellent paintwork, showing only minor marks from careful use. Since the component upgrades were completed, the bike has covered less than 50 miles, so everything is essentially as new.

The lightweight build makes this bike responsive and nimble to ride, and the 9-speed drivetrain handles mixed riding well. It's suited to anyone who needs a folding bike that doesn't feel heavy when carrying it, whether that's up station stairs, onto a train, or into an office or flat.
