DAHON Launch D8 Folding Bike – Lightweight 20” 8-Speed, Disc Brakes

The Dahon Launch D8 is a lightweight aluminium folding bike built for daily commuting and urban riding where portability matters as much as performance. Weighing around 11.8kg, it's light enough to carry up stairs or onto a train without exhausting yourself, yet the K-frame design keeps the bike rigid and stable once you're riding. The folding mechanism uses Dahon's upgraded ViseGrip locking joint, which locks the frame securely with multiple teeth engagement, making the fold reliable and durable over time.

The frame itself uses Dahon's Deltec cable reinforcement system, which increases stiffness by up to 35 per cent compared to standard designs. This translates to more efficient pedalling and better stability when you're pushing hard or navigating rough urban surfaces. The 8-speed drivetrain with an 11-32 tooth range covers most city riding and modest hills without requiring constant adjustment, and the derailleur shifts smoothly enough for regular stop-start commuting. Braking is handled by 140mm front and rear disc brakes, which offer strong, reliable stopping power whether roads are dry or wet.

The 20-inch wheels roll quickly on urban roads and city streets, and they contribute to the bike's compact folded dimensions. Handlebar and seatpost adjustment mean it suits riders of different heights, so you can dial in a comfortable riding position for daily use. Once folded, the bike is genuinely easy to store in a flat, carry onto public transport, or stash in an office corner. This particular bike has seen about 1.5 years of use and is in good working condition with normal signs of everyday wear. It comes with a bike lock, rear tail light, and a flashlight, which covers the basics for commuting straight away.
