BROMPTON T5 5 Speed Folding Bicycle - With Upgrades

Here is a Brompton T5 folding bicycle in very good fully working condition with a number of upgrades to the original 1997 specification.

The T5 model designation means that the bike has a rear rack, 5 gears in the Sturmey Archer hub and a front carrier block for all types of Brompton luggage.

The frame and wheels have a lot of life left in them and the gloss black paintwork is mostly intact, but some areas have been touched-up with enamel paint.  The drive train is very clean and there's little wear on the chain, rear sprocket and front chainring.

The Brompton "green" tyres are puncture resistant with a kevlar belt, and roll a bit more freely than other such tyres.

The upgrades from the standard 1997 specification include:

-  Rear frame lock (like all modern Bromptons) to ensure the rear frame doesn't fold under the bike when being ridden.
-  Firm suspension block.
-  Modern Sturmey Archer 5-speed gear selector, SL-S5B.  The original plastic ones eventually wear out so gears cannot be selected properly.
-  Fibrax cartridge brakes (as on modern Bromptons) to enable easier maintenance and replacement of brake blocks.
-  Brompton brake calipers (the original ones fitted were shockingly bad).
-  Late specification riser handlebars (the originals needed to be reinforced with a crossbar).
-  New rear rack bungee cords.
-  Rear mud flap.
-  Right hand non-folding pedal in the same style as the left hand folding pedal (easier to grip).
-  Brake levers with adjustment barrels.
-  Wide rear reflector.

The 5 speed hub has been serviced by Colwood Wheel Works in Hailsham, who specialise in Sturmey Archer hub gear maintenance and repair.

It's a great bike but it's now not getting the use that it should do so it's looking for a new home.

Any questions, please ask.

The bike would need to be collected from my home address due to the cost of postage and the potential for it to be damaged by a courier in transit.

UK buyers only please.

Thanks for looking!
