A lovely example of the Brompton S6L Black Edition, finished in the distinctive Black Lacquer finish.

The translucent lacquer allows the brazing and construction of the hand-built steel frame to remain visible, giving the bike its characteristic bronze / smoked-black appearance. Combined with the Black Edition components and Brooks leather saddle, it is a particularly attractive Brompton.

Brooks B17 Saddle

The bike is fitted with a genuine Brooks B17 leather saddle, which suits the Black Lacquer finish particularly well. The saddle has developed the normal light patina associated with a used Brooks leather saddle.

Condition

The bike has been used but remains in very nice overall condition for its age. It has just been thoroughly cleaned, with the chain and drivetrain cleaned and lubricated ready for sale.

There are normal cosmetic marks and small scuffs from use, all shown as clearly as possible in the photographs. The most noticeable cosmetic wear is scratching to the top of the rear mudguard, which can be seen clearly in the close-up photograph.

Importantly, the Black Lacquer frame itself still presents extremely well and the distinctive brazing beneath the translucent finish looks fantastic.

The 6-speed gear system has been checked and adjusted and all gears are now selecting correctly. The bike rides, folds and operates as it should.

History

Owned from new for approximately seven years and originally purchased through a Cycle to Work scheme. It has seen modest use and has spent most of its life stored indoors.

It is only being sold because it is now very rarely used.

Why This One?

The combination of Black Edition specification, Black Lacquer frame, 6-speed gearing, Brooks B17 saddle and original Brompton frame pump makes this a particularly appealing example.

It combines the practicality and exceptionally compact fold that Bromptons are known for with a finish and specification that is considerably more distinctive than a standard painted model.
