This is a Brompton M6L E, a British-made electric folding bike with steel frame construction and a compact fold that makes it suited to commuters who need to mix cycling with public transport or storage in tight spaces. The bike has only covered 80 miles since 2019, so it's barely been used. The frame and fork are hand-brazed steel, giving the traditional Brompton build quality and durability that the brand is known for. The gloss black and blue colour scheme is clean and understated.
The M6L E uses a Brompton front hub motor paired with a 300Wh bag battery, which delivers a range of between 20 and 45 miles depending on terrain and rider weight. The battery charges in around four hours with the supplied 2A UK charger. The motor takes the effort out of urban riding and makes hills manageable without needing to wrestle with gears in traffic. The 6-speed internal gears use Brompton's BSR system with shift levers, keeping the drivetrain compact and low-maintenance compared to derailleur systems.
Braking is handled by dual-pivot calliper brakes with aluminium levers, which give reliable stopping power for city speeds. The wheelset is Brompton's standard 6-speed BSR specification with puncture-resistant tyres, designed to cope with urban hazards without frequent flats. The bike weighs 17.4kg with the battery fitted, which is manageable for occasional carrying but worth considering if you'll be lifting it regularly onto trains or up stairs. The M-type handlebars and standard Brompton saddle and seatpost are typical of the range, with the folding pedal on the left side and a flat aluminium cage pedal on the right.
The bike comes with mudguards, an essential bag, and a city bag for carrying small items. The standard block rear suspension system absorbs some road buzz without adding complexity.
