Brompton C Line Electric (M6L) Black Edition - Black Lacquer
The Brompton C Line Electric M6L is a British-made folding bike built around the brand's distinctive lateral fold and engineered for commuters who want electric assistance without sacrificing the portability that makes a Brompton useful. This particular example is finished in Black Lacquer across the high tensile steel frame and steel extremities, giving it a sleek, all-black appearance. It's been stored indoors since purchase in 2022 and has covered just 550 miles, which means the drivetrain and brakes remain fresh and the frame shows no sign of the wear you'd expect from heavy use.
The 6-speed transmission pairs a 50T chainset with Brompton's 3-speed BWR hub, offering enough range for mixed urban terrain without becoming complicated. The dual-pivot callipers use Fibrax cartridge pads for reliable stopping power, and the Brompton aluminium brake levers feel natural under your fingers on regular rides. The M-type riser bars position you upright and comfortable, which is the right geometry for stop-start city cycling where you need good visibility and easy access to the brakes. The Marathon Racer tyres are practical choice for tarmac-heavy riding—they roll efficiently and resist punctures better than softer compounds.
At 11.7kg, the bike is light enough to handle easily when folded, whether you're carrying it into an office, up a flight of stairs, or onto a train. The 16-inch double-wall alloy rims lend themselves to the tight fold and contribute to responsive handling in traffic, though they do demand a bit more pedalling effort to maintain speed on longer flat sections. The Brompton saddle has the moulded grip that makes carrying the folded bike straightforward, and the standard seatpost adjusts to suit different rider heights. The folding pedal on the left and alloy cage pedal on the right are typical Brompton specification—practical rather than flashy, and designed to not snag when the bike is folded.
This bike comes with a quad lock bracket, which is useful for securing it when you're not riding, and it has only ever run reflectors for lighting, so there's scope to add a front light and rear light of your choosing if you ride in low visibility. The example is available for collection from EN5 in High Barnet, and the original receipt from the Brompton store is available with the bike.
