BROMPTON 6-SPEED H-TYPE CUSTOM URBAN TOURER, SAGE GREEN with BLACK EXTREMITIES
This is a Brompton 6-speed H-type folding bike finished in sage green with black extremities, built for urban touring and general city riding. The bike has covered only around 150 miles since it was purchased new in 2013, used exclusively for summer trips between home and Leicester city centre along the Great Central Way. It's been stored dry indoors and maintained carefully each spring with full lubrication and cleaning, so it remains in excellent condition throughout.
The specification centres around practical touring capability. The 6-speed gearing spans from 33 inches to 99 inches, giving a broad range suited to urban riding and the occasional gentle hill. The H-type stem and handlebar arrangement is designed for the upright riding position preferred in leisure and touring cycling, keeping you stable and comfortable over longer distances at moderate pace. Schwalbe Marathon tyres handle road surfaces reliably and wear well with general use. The Brooks B17 Special saddle with copper rivets is a traditional choice that develops character with use, and custom leather hand-grips from MiniMODs add a practical touch.
The bike carries several useful accessories as standard. Shimano hub dynamo lights front and rear mean you're lit without relying on batteries or charging cycles. A front mudguard keeps spray at bay during wet weather riding. The S-bag set in black is included, sized well for general commuting and short trips, along with a saddle bag for carrying essentials. A protective cover for the folded bike helps during storage or transport. There's also an aluminium bottom-rail protector fitted to guard against damage when the fold-hook is in place. The copper coachline detailing adds a subtle aesthetic touch throughout.
The only marks of wear are some light scratches on the black bottom rail on the left side, which came from a forgotten pedal during folding some years ago. These are visible but entirely superficial and could be addressed with a car touch-in stick if desired, though they don't affect the bike's function. Building a comparable Brompton from the current range would require significant outlay, particularly to achieve this paint finish and the 6-speed drivetrain, which isn't standard on entry-level models. Collection from the outskirts of Leicester is preferred, close to junction 21 of the M1 and M69.
