2018 Brompton M3L C line Matt Black

This is a 2018 Brompton M3L in matt black, a British-made folding bike built for urban commuting and mixed-use riding. The steel frame uses Brompton's signature lateral fold, collapsing to a compact package that fits easily into train luggage racks, car boots, or under a desk. The M3L designation refers to the three-speed Sturmey Archer hub gear, which keeps the drivetrain simple and low-maintenance while handling moderate inclines without fuss.

The bike is in good condition and has been kept maintained throughout its ownership. It doesn't see heavy use, which means the frame and components have aged well. The 16-inch wheels are fitted with Schwalbe Marathon tyres in good condition, tyres known for durability and all-weather grip. Recently, a set of Eazy wheels were installed to make rolling the bike easier when it's folded, which is a practical addition for anyone who regularly carries it. A new bike stand and fresh jockey wheels have also been fitted, keeping the drivetrain responsive and reliable.

The bike comes with ergonomic handlebars that suit riders looking for a comfortable upright position in traffic. A Brompton Borough Bag is included and has seen minimal use, designed to fit the bike without interfering with the fold mechanism, making it practical for carrying work essentials or shopping. The Brompton Owners Manual is also included, which is useful for understanding maintenance and getting the most from the fold.

Day to day, the Brompton works well for short urban journeys where you need a bike that folds compactly. The three-speed hub handles city riding without the maintenance demands of a derailleur system, and the upright position gives good sightlines in traffic. This suits commuters who combine cycling with public transport, or anyone living in a small space who needs a capable bike that doesn't take up much room when stored.
