1990 Hub 89-12 Mk2 Brompton Folding bicycle - All Original & Hardly Used

This One mature owned from new late 1990 (89-12 hub date stamp) built Brompton M5L on C5 folding bicycle remains in what can only be described as amazing timewarp, all original condition and only seen brief leisure rides not been used for any long distance or commuting

This example would make a great addition to any Brompton collection or anyone looking for one of the better classic early mk2 models.

Rare to find an earlier mk2 still looking bright and having ALL of its original parts including:

Original early rear triangle design.

Original Alesa Alloy ridged wheels.

Original upgraded folding pedal.

Original front frame mounted Luggage Block.

Original Raleigh Record tyres.

Original Foam Saddle + Slider Bracket.

Original Ribbed Plastic Handlebar Grips.

Original Large ‘Patents Worldwide’ Sticker.

Large size Wheel, Pedals & Front/Rear Reflectors.

The original Gloss paint finish still looks excellent throughout and with only a few light scratches/marks from storage and to the main crossbar. Only some carefully paint touch in’s from where folded pedal has clashed with the black rear triangle upright.

Both alloy wheel rims remain shiny silver with the original Raleigh Record tyres which both still have their centrelines clearly visible, fully inflated with new tread remaining.

The bike is all in fully functional and excellent working order, having smooth working early Caliper brakes and the rarer dual chain side operated Sturmey Archer Sprinter 5 speed hub gear mechanism shifting smoothly between all 5 gears using two of the tried and tested SA thumb type shifters.

The bike has been carefully cleaned/adjusted checked over and even still has it’s original chain / running gear which is all hardly worn, rust free and in excellent smooth running order ready for use.

The original silver plastic mudguards are in good original condition which can be seen in the various pictures of front & rear with the common whitening/discolouration to both front and rear blades. The mudguard bracketry shows surface corrosion but could easily be painted silver, I personally prefer to keep the bike as original as possible with the age patina only cleaned/polished.

The original early type lightweight foam saddle is still perfectly sound with no splits or holes.
