Tern Vektron S10 400 2018 model good condition
The Tern Vektron S10 is a folding e-bike built for urban commuting and mixed-use riding, combining the portability of a folder with the range and power of a full-size electric bicycle. This 2018 model sits at the premium end of the compact folding market, designed to handle daily commutes, longer touring rides, and everything in between without the bulk of a conventional e-bike.
The frame uses Tern's re-engineered design with a reclining battery pack mounted low in the frame for a lower centre of gravity and improved stability. The aluminium construction keeps weight down to 22.1kg, which matters when you're lifting this bike in and out of cars or carrying it onto trains. The 20-inch wheels fold neatly to create a package measuring 40 × 85.5 × 67.5 cm, small enough to fit in a car boot or train luggage space, yet the geometry still feels natural to ride once unfolded.
The motor is a Bosch Performance Line unit with 36V/250W output and 65Nm torque, delivering 300% assistance through four riding modes plus a walk-assist function. The 400Wh Bosch PowerPack battery provides a realistic range of 53–106km depending on terrain and assistance level, which covers most commutes and day-long touring rides comfortably. The Bosch Purion display is straightforward and intuitive, and the 4A compact charger tops up the battery reasonably quickly.
The drivetrain is Shimano Deore 1x10 speed, which gives enough range for mixed terrain without the complexity of a front mech. Magura MT4 hydraulic disc brakes provide strong, modulated stopping power even when loaded. Schwalbe Big Apple tyres sit on 20-inch wheels, offering decent grip and rolling comfort on tarmac, gravel, and light trails. The Tern Physis 3D handlepost adjusts to suit different rider positions, and an adjustable Tern Andros stem allows fine-tuning for comfort.
This example has been well equipped and maintained. It comes with Tannus Armour tyre inserts for puncture protection, a Cane Creek Thudbuster suspension seatpost for vibration isolation, and a comprehensive locking luggage system including a KlickFix front basket and GTA rear adapter. An integrated Atlas V Rack handles cargo duty, while Tern Valo front and Herrmans H-Trace rear lights keep you visible. Mudguards from SKS keep spray off during winter rides. The bike has been serviced regularly—the Purion display was replaced in February 2022, lamp cable repaired in November 2023, and the chain case was refitted in May 2024. At 4,095 miles over seven and a half years, this is a genuinely well-used folder that has proven itself in practice.
The frame and drivetrain remain solid. The paintwork shows the expected scratches and marks from years of touring and daily use, though these have been touched up. The rear brake occasionally squeals, likely a case of pad wear or rotor distortion requiring attention. The bike suits riders between 147–195cm tall and can carry up to 125kg gross weight, making it versatile for different body types and cargo needs. It handles city commuting, multi-day touring on mixed terrain including hills and gravel, and packs efficiently for camping trips or weekend escapes. The fold is straightforward, and the compact package makes train travel easy and car transport reliable.
