Dahon Vitesse D7HG Folding Foldable Fold-up Bike
A lovely example of a Vitesse D7HG that seems
to have spent more time in storage than it has being ridden. The tyres still have
their “whiskers” and the seam in the centre of the tread is still visible.
The Vitesse D7Hg is arguably the best bike for
urban living that Dahon have made. Dahon.com is suitably modest …“.. with a
7-speed Shimano Nexus internal hub with alloy frame, this premium Vitesse model
exquisitely combines high performance, light weight, and extra value for a
durable folding bicycle at an attractive price.”
The Shimano Nexus 7 speed hub
gear is virtually maintenance free. The gears are operated by a Shimano twist
grip which gives smooth and precise gear changing, you can even change gear at
a standstill. Because it has hub gears and a chain guard there isn’t a dangly
derailleur so you and your clothes have more chance of avoiding the oily bits.
Great for the urban
life when bike storage is a challenge, its light weight (circa 11.8kg) takes the strain out of
lifting it upstairs. Drop the handlebars
and fold the pedals to squeeze it in to a narrow corridor, or fold it
into its most compact shape to put it in
the corner. Folds down to 29 x 80 x 66cm Of course it’s also ideal for
commuting or to put in your car, campervan or caravan for days out and
holidays, as well as trips to the shops and general tootling about .
As well as the
Shimano Nexus hub the bike has a Biologic tyre pump in the seat post, as well as
adjustable height saddle and handlebars. Suitable for riders weighing up to
105kg or 230lbs and 142 – 193 cm (4’8” – 6’4”) tall. In the photos the bike is
set up for me, I’m 6’ or 183cm tall.
The paint work is in good condition for
a folding bike, however there are some marks on both forks (the shoulder of the
right fork has been abraded by the front brake cable “noodle”) the tips of the
pedal cranks and the lefthand chain stay. The kickstand is scratched. See photos
