The Carerra CrossCity-e Folding
Bike is a sleek and powerful E-City bike designed for unisex adults. With a maximum speed of 25 km/h and a 250 W motor power, this aluminium bike features flat handlebars, tubular tyres, and derailleur gears for smooth gear changes. Its compact design makes it easy to fold and store, perfect for commuting or leisure rides in the city. The Carrera brand ensures quality and reliability, making this electric bike a great choice for those looking for both style and functionality in their cycling experience.
I was gifted this bike from my dad who bought in during lockdown to get out and do some exercise.
I used it for commuting to work but it’s covered less than 150 miles. (It has an included Cat Eye Velo 7 cycle computer (also from Halfords) which was fitted by my dad). One of the photos shows the computer and mileage but I’ve ridden it since which is why the total mileage is higher.
Unfortunately the cables to the front wheel for the computer sensor severed as they got trapped in the folding mechanism. I’ve tried reconnecting the wires but the computer wasn’t reading anything. It think it shouldn’t be too hard to fix though.
I used the bike for a 5 mile commute to work but after moving house I now have a 20 mile train journey so have no further use for it.
The battery on it is in working order. The claimed range is 30 miles but I managed to get about 2 commutes between charges (20 miles), which included some steep hills.
The battery did go flat after being left for a winter, which meant it wouldn’t accept a charge.
I opened up the battery, tested the individual cells and effectively jump started it using a 12 volt battery. Since this the battery accepts a charge.
I’ve ridden it on a 15 mile test ride on flat cycle tracks (almost all on the high or medium motor settings) and the battery was still showing the full 4 bars up until about 12 miles, and 3 at the end of the ride
I’m mentioning this to be clear that the battery had previously gone flat but has now been revived and is holding charge well.
