Brompton T Line Ceratech 4 Speed Mid Handlebar Folding Bike
The Brompton T Line Ceratech is a British-made folding bike designed for cyclists who want lightweight performance without compromising on everyday practicality. Starting at 7.95kg, this is one of the lightest folding bikes available, achieved through careful material selection across the entire build. The T Line represents Brompton's top-tier offering, with grade 9 titanium tubes in the main frame, a one-piece carbon fork, and carbon components throughout the drivetrain and contact points.
The frame folds using Brompton's proven lateral fold mechanism, collapsing to a compact package that fits under a desk or into a bike bag for train journeys. The 4-speed drivetrain offers a 163% gear range, which handles urban hills and flat-out commuting without the complexity of more gears. The mid-position handlebars create a natural, relaxed riding posture suited to city cycling, whilst the superlight carbon saddle with oval rails and integrated carry handle keeps weight minimal without sacrificing comfort on short to medium rides.
Schwalbe ONE tyres in 349 x 35C fit the compact wheel size and feature reflective sidewalls for visibility. The tyres use Addix Race rubber and V-Guard puncture protection, striking a balance between light weight and everyday durability. Mudguards are included, making the bike ready for all-weather commuting without needing to bolt on extras. The Ceratech Black finish uses a durable ceramic coating, whilst the Blasted Titanium option shows the raw material with a robust, understated appearance.
The drivetrain uses a superlight carbon crankset with a 50-tooth chainring, paired with an 11-13-15-18 tooth sprocket set and a patent-pending direct-mount 4-speed derailleur. Quick-release left-hand pedals combine with a fixed right-hand pedal to ease folding. The seatpost is a steel-armoured carbon design, the first of its kind in a production folding bike, and suits riders with inside legs up to 84cm. The rear frame is Brompton's Advance Superlight design with replaceable hanger and suspension block, using 54mm roller wheels to smooth out pavement vibration.
This bike works well for commuters who regularly combine cycling with public transport, or anyone who needs a genuinely portable bike that doesn't feel compromised on the road. The weight and rigidity make it easier to handle in crowds and up stairs compared to heavier folders. The mid handlebars and 4-speed gearing suit stop-start urban riding more than longer rural journeys. Over time, the fold becomes instinctive, taking just a few seconds to collapse or unfold at the start or end of your commute.
