Brompton P line 4 Speed Amethyst Lacquer Mid - M4L - RRP £2539 - World Delivery
The Brompton P Line 4-speed is a British-made folding bike built for urban commuting and daily transport. It uses a steel main frame paired with titanium fork and rear triangle, which keeps weight down while maintaining the durability Brompton is known for. The P Line comes in Amethyst Lacquer with black detailing on the fork, rear triangle, and components, giving it a distinctive look that stands apart from the standard colour options.
When folded, the bike measures 585mm wide by 565mm tall by 270mm deep, small enough to stash under a desk, in a train luggage rack, or a car boot. The mid-rise handlebars sit between the low sport bars and high comfort bars, offering a natural riding position that works for general urban cycling without forcing you into an aggressive lean. The fold itself follows Brompton's familiar lateral mechanism, and once you've done it a handful of times, it becomes automatic.
The drivetrain uses a 4-speed derailleur system with an integrated shift lever on the left side of the bars, paired with a 54-tooth front chainring and four rear sprockets ranging from 11T to 18T. This gives enough range for general commuting and moderate hills, though it's not designed for steep terrain. The removable left pedal stows in the front fork to reduce the folded width, while the right pedal stays fixed. The chain is Brompton's advance type with a connecting link, and a derailleur tensioner keeps things tight when the bike is folded and unfolded.
The 16-inch wheels with double-wall rims are fitted with Continental Contact Urban tyres, which offer low rolling resistance and decent puncture protection for daily riding. The wheels feature 20 spokes up front and 28 at the rear, and the hubs and rims come in black with a silver braking surface. Presta valves with 6mm threads are fitted. The advance roller wheels at the base of the folded bike keep it stable when stored upright without taking up extra space.
The saddle is Brompton's superlight design with a mounting point for a rear light, and it's held by an adjustable Pentaclip on a black seatpost. The standard seatpost suits riders with an inside leg measurement up to 33 inches, though an extended version can be fitted at no extra cost if you're taller. A saddle height insert is included for fine-tuning once you've ridden the bike for a while. The P Line comes equipped with black advance mudguards to keep spray off in wet weather, and the frame has a front carrier block ready for Brompton luggage accessories if you need to carry more than a backpack.
