Brompton M6L Folding Fold-up Foldable Bike
This is a 2007 Brompton M6L, a British-made steel folding bike finished in gloss black. The M6L is Brompton's six-speed model, using a combination gear-change mechanism that blends the simplicity of derailleur shifting with hub-gear reliability. At its core, it's a compact urban bike designed to fold down small enough to carry onto trains, store under a desk, or fit into a car boot, then unfold and ride whenever you need it.
This particular example comes equipped with two accessories that make a real difference to daily use. The front luggage block is mounted and ready to accept any of Brompton's range of bags, so you can clip on a pannier, rucksack, or small cargo bag and go without fiddling with straps or racks. The rear triangle retaining clip is also fitted, which makes the folded bike much easier to pick up and carry around, especially when you're juggling it with other bags or trying to manoeuvre it through doorways and onto trains.
The bike is fitted with an extended seat post, which sits 60mm higher than the standard Brompton post. Brompton recommends this for riders with an inside leg measurement greater than 33 inches (84cm), though even shorter riders can dial in their preferred saddle height with it. The recent work done includes a new Schwalbe Marathon tyre on the rear wheel, a new chain, new rear sprockets, fresh brake and gear cables throughout, and a new rear mudguard, so the drivetrain and running gear are ready to go. The front tyre still has plenty of tread left on it.
The paintwork shows its age fairly honestly. There are scuffs on both sides of the rear triangle, a scratch just below the Brompton logo on the left side of the crossbar, and minor marks on the steering post, front forks, and the top tube. These are consistent with a folding bike that's been used and folded regularly over more than a decade, but the structural integrity is sound.
