This is a late 1997 Brompton L3 folding bicycle in remarkable original condition, built from new and barely ridden since. The steel frame and compact fold design are characteristic of Brompton's approach to urban cycling, and this particular example has spent most of its life stored away in a garage, which is why it reads as a genuine timewarp find rather than a well-used machine. The bike retains its original Carradice front bag with the rare heavy-duty steel frame mount, along with the dust cover, saddle storage pouch, frame-mounted luggage block, and even the original Zefal frame pump. These accessories matter because they're becoming increasingly hard to find and replacing them now isn't straightforward. The original foam saddle is still sound, the handlebar grips are unchanged, and the tyres are original Raleigh Records with plenty of tread and no perishing. The gloss paint finish has only minor storage marks, nothing that detracts from the overall presentation.

Mechanically, everything works as it should. The Sturmey Archer 3-speed hub shifts smoothly through all three gears using the original SA thumb shifter, and the dual-caliper front brake combined with the rear caliper brake system operates cleanly without any seized components. The original silver chain and running gear show no rust or wear, having been cleaned and checked over. The plastic mudguards are in excellent condition with only slight whitening at the very edges.

The 16-inch wheels still have their shiny silver rims with stainless steel spokes, and both tyres are fully inflated and ready to ride. At 3 speeds with caliper brakes and a steel frame, this is a straightforward, maintenance-friendly machine suited to short urban journeys and anyone who values original specification and honest provenance.
