The Brompton G Line is a folding bike that brings the ride feel of a full-size bicycle into a package small enough to carry onto a train or stow in a flat. What sets this G Line apart is the revised frame geometry paired with 20-inch wheels. Compared to earlier Brompton models, this combination delivers noticeably better stability and comfort, especially when you're covering longer distances or hitting rougher surfaces like cobbles and gravel. The larger wheels feel more planted than smaller folding bike wheels, without sacrificing the fold's practicality. The hand-brazed steel main frame keeps things light at around 14.8kg, while the aluminium fork handles the kind of rough ground that would punish a heavier setup.

The 8-speed Shimano Alfine hub gear gives you a genuinely useful range for rolling hills and loaded touring. Hub gears mean minimal maintenance—no derailleur to adjust, no chain line issues—and the Alfine shifts smoothly under load, which matters when you're climbing with luggage or accelerating in traffic. Hydraulic disc brakes provide proper stopping power in any weather, which is essential if you're mixing urban commuting with gravel riding where you can't always trust the surface.

The wide handlebars and ergonomic grips make longer rides less tiring, while the quick-release platform pedals fold away cleanly as part of the compact package. Schwalbe G-One All Round tyres strike a sensible balance between grip and rolling resistance across varied surfaces. The whole bike folds down in under twenty seconds to approximately 72cm by 67cm by 41cm, small enough to fit under a desk or in a train luggage rack.
