Brompton 3-Speed Red & Yellow Folding Bike + Front Travel Bag ('T-Bag')
£414.70 GBP
I’m not a 'professional' bike technician, but have been riding, repairing and building bikes all my life - since I was a kid (so from just after when the dinosaurs became extinct) - and decades before 'Cytech’/bike-maintenence qualifications came into existence.
Was riding/racing mountain bikes in the 80's, when front-suspension forks were a pipe-dream and 'off-road biking' simply meant ‘riding more carefully’.
I've built this Brompton from a combination of new and good quality used parts.
NEW:
Brake levers
Brake calipers
Gear shifter
Cables
Seat post
Bottom bracket
Rear hinge clip suspension-damper
Grips
Saddle pentaclip/mount (new, black; not the silver/‘temporary’ one in the photo’s)
USED:
Frame (bought second hand; ~2004 model)
Wheels (hardly used)
Cranks
Pedals (no play/side-movement whatsoever)
Tyres
Mudguards
Saddle (rare, original Brompton coloured model)
Easy wheels (60mm)
etc...
Comes with an excellent, 'as new' quality, original Brompton large-volume T-Bag (approx value £75-£110), shown.
I have replacement 'Brompton' badge decals/stickers for the mainframe, but haven't applied them - think the bike now looks better without - so will be provided.
frame was stripped, cleaned (see last photo'), then re-sprayed with 2 layers of undercoat and 2 layers of overcoat.
Looks good from afar, ...but close-up, far from good :oD - I'm a good technician, but terrible 'artist'.
(NB: I accidentally sprayed over the serial number before checking for age verification - would've removed & reapplied it had I remembered/had time).
The front-hook attachment site, front brake cable-rub and lower seat-tube cable-rub sites have now been covered with clear frame-protector material.
I've used the bike for a few days now and it's riding/working/folding perfectly.
I'm selling it for about a 'Costa coffee & sandwich' above what it cost me in parts, so won't be dropping the price I'm afraid.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a used bike and private sale - no guarantees of any kind (quality, safety, etc.) are given or implied.
Only anomaly; the front luggage block is only held on by the top bolt - the lower one sheared off during removal. However, due to the way th block is mounted - sitting on a protruding steel block-shelf - the lower bolt is pretty-much superfluous. I’ve run my own Brompton like this, carrying up to 14kg (4 more than recommended) over often bumpy roads, for 6 years now, without any problem!
Happy for viewing/short test rides (though I'll be joining you, on my bike) without obligation.
Sold as seen. Any questions, please ask: 07472 926237
Can arrange collection in London, either Paddington Station, Dulwich or elsewhere centrally, but it will cost an extra £25 (half my return train fare).
