The New World Tourist 210" has long been recognised as the ultimate touring bike with folding capability. Custom built by Green Gear Cycling, Eugene, Oregon, USA. This model was custom built for it's previous owner (c. 5ft 10 ins), and dates from late '90's. The first owners name plaque is still attached! In terms of comfort on long rides, wide gear ratios, flexibility in terms of transportation betweeen countries and high spec. components, the design is unbeaten (even by Brompton G line).. Handling is remarkably similar to a full size tourer.
Components are as follows:-
Shimano 105 cranks, bar end shifters and rear derailleur.
9 speed cassette(9t-26t)
Triple chainring (30t-50t)
SUN Cr18 rims, Shimaino Capreo rear hub, 105 front hub.
Schwalbe Marathon Plus 20 inch x1.35" tyres
AVID single digit 6 V brrakes
Cane Creek levers
Chris King headset, budget saddle (but v. comfortable!)
3x bottle cage bolt-ons
Recent work by my LBS include new cables, gear and derailleurs adjustment. There are new brake pads, hoods and bar tape.
The bike has been well cared for but is a good 25 years old and has seen a fair bit of touring in USA and Europe by previous owner, so there are some minor scratches at vulnerable points. The frame is solid.
Mechanically sound and a beautiful
smooth ride.
NOT INCLUDED are luggage racks or hardshell carrying case
(which converts to trailer), which are obtainable from the manufacturer, though standard pannier racks can be adapted
