Bickerton Folding Bicycle Vintage

The Bickerton Folding Bicycle Vintage is a compact folding bike built around a simple, practical frame design. This is a genuine Bickerton portable bike, the kind that was designed for riders who needed something they could fold up and carry without too much fuss. It uses a 3-speed hub gear system, which means the gears are tucked inside the rear wheel hub rather than exposed on the outside, so there's less to catch on your clothes or get dirty in wet weather. Hub gears are reliable and need minimal maintenance, making them well-suited to everyday urban riding.

This particular bike is sold as seen and needs cleaning up, but it's reported to be in good working order overall. The folding mechanism is the heart of what makes a Bickerton useful—it collapses down to a size that's genuinely portable, making it the kind of bike you can realistically take on public transport, store in a flat, or throw in a car boot. The 3-speed setup handles gentle hills and urban riding without complication, though if you're regularly tackling steeper terrain you might find yourself wishing for more gears. For the kind of rider who values simplicity and portability over anything else, the fixed gear range does the job well enough.

This bike is available for collection from London SE12. Given its vintage heritage and the fact it needs a clean, it's the sort of Bickerton that appeals to riders who understand what these bikes are about—practical, no-nonsense urban transport that folds away when you're done.
