20" Portable Commuter Bike 60Nm 48V 10.4A Folding City Bike 7 Speed -XD30BL new
The Samebike XD30BL is a 20-inch folding city bike built for commuters who need a compact e-bike that fits easily into small spaces and onto public transport. The aluminium alloy frame folds at both the hinges and handlebars, collapsing to 0.9 × 0.36 × 0.7 metres, making it practical to store in a flat, office, or car boot. At 31kg, it's heavier than a standard folding bike but manageable for lifting and carrying short distances once the frame is folded.
The 350W brushless motor delivers 60Nm of torque, which is enough to handle hills and varied urban terrain without excessive effort. The 48V 10.4Ah removable battery offers a realistic range of 35 to 70km depending on how you ride and which assist mode you use, with the weakest pedal-assist mode stretching the furthest distance. Charging takes four to six hours from empty. The LCD display on the handlebars shows battery level, speed, distance travelled, and gear selection, so you always know where you stand on a journey.
For daily riding, the bike uses a 7-speed Shimano derailleur system, giving you enough gearing options to find a comfortable cadence on both flat roads and gentle inclines. The 20 × 1.95-inch tyres are designed for mixed urban surfaces and cope well with rough patches and park paths without feeling sluggish on smooth tarmac. Mechanical disc brakes provide reliable stopping power, though they lack the immediacy of hydraulic systems if you're braking hard in traffic. A twist throttle on the right grip lets you ride on motor power alone without pedalling, useful when you're tired or stuck in slow traffic.
The suspension setup pairs a front fork with shock absorption and a sprung seat tube in the rear, absorbing road vibration and small bumps more effectively than a rigid frame. The riding position is upright and stable rather than stretched out, which suits shorter commutes and stop-start city riding. The integrated LED lights front and rear keep you visible in low light, and a solid rear rack can handle a small bag or locked helmet.
This folding bike works well for urban commuters who cover short to medium distances and need to combine cycling with train or bus journeys. The compact fold means you're not wrestling with a cumbersome package every time you need to go indoors, and the motor takes the sweat out of longer trips or hills you'd otherwise walk. Riders covering long distances regularly or looking for something lightweight and quick would be better served elsewhere, but for city commuting with the practicality of assisted pedalling and genuine portability, the XD30BL fills that gap effectively.
