The SAMEBIKE CY20R is a 20-inch folding city e-bike designed for urban commuting and short-distance journeys where portability matters as much as range. The white aluminium alloy frame folds down in around five seconds, reducing to under 0.15 cubic metres for storage in a car boot or small flat, making it genuinely practical for mixed-mode commuting where you might combine cycling with train or bus travel.

At the heart of the bike is a 250W brushless hub motor hidden inside the rear wheel, paired with a 36V 13Ah battery that sits integrated into the seat tube. The motor is set to a default speed limit of 25 km/h, which keeps the bike legal for road use in the UK, though you can climb hills without much physical effort thanks to the 35Nm of torque available. In pure pedal-assist mode at the lowest setting, the bike manages around 60km on a single charge, while riders who use full throttle can still expect decent range for most commutes. Charging takes between four and six hours from empty.

The drivetrain uses a Shimano 7-speed derailleur system that handles gear changes smoothly across different terrain. The 20-inch by 2.35-inch tyres are thickened and widened for puncture resistance, with reflective strips built into the sidewalls to improve visibility during night riding. Mechanical disc brakes provide reliable stopping power without requiring electronic intervention, keeping maintenance straightforward.

Comfort features include an extended and thickened saddle designed for pressure relief on longer rides, and the handlebars are adjustable to suit different rider heights. A dual suspension system—front fork suspension and rear compliance—absorbs bumps from rough or uneven city streets, reducing the jolting sensation that plagues smaller-wheeled bikes on poor surfaces. The bike weighs 28kg fully assembled, which is substantial but manageable for occasional lifting.

An LCD display shows real-time speed, battery level, and distance travelled, with five selectable pedal-assist levels letting you adjust how much help the motor provides. There's a thumb throttle for full electric operation without pedalling, and the battery is removable so you can charge it indoors or at work rather than needing to plug the whole bike in. USB charging ports built into the frame let you top up a phone or other devices whilst riding.

Front and rear LED lights come integrated into the design, serving double duty as both daytime running lights and night riding illumination. The frame is high-carbon steel for durability, and the bike supports riders up to 150kg. This setup suits commuters who need to fold their bike regularly for storage or transport, those combining cycling with public transport, or anyone tackling hilly urban terrain who'd prefer motor assistance to physical effort.
