1992 Mk2 Brompton Folding bicycle - Timewarp Collectors Condition Hardly Used
This is an early Mk2 Brompton folding bicycle from 1992, a British-made steel frame that has spent most of its life untouched. Built as an L3 or M3L (the hub date stamp reads 1990-91), it's seen only occasional leisure rides and has never been pressed into regular commuting or long-distance work. For anyone interested in classic Brompton models or building a collection, this is the kind of bike that rarely comes up—a rust-free early example still wearing its original parts and paint.
The bike retains its original AFA frame pump, early rear triangle design, Alesa alloy ridged wheels, upgraded folding pedal, and front-mounted luggage block. The frame still carries the large "Patents Worldwide" sticker, and it rides on original Raleigh Record tyres, both with visible centre lines and good tread remaining. The gloss paint finish has held up remarkably well through storage, with only light scratches where the folding pedal has caught the rear triangle upright and minor marking around the seatpost tube where the seat drops during folding. Both silver plastic mudguards are in excellent original condition with minimal whitening at the ends. The only non-original component is a Velo padded saddle fitted to replace the original, which deteriorated after the bike was lifted by the saddle during storage.
Mechanically, the Brompton is fully functional and in smooth working order. The Sturmey Archer 3-speed hub gear shifts cleanly through all gears using the thumb shifter, and the side-pull caliper brakes work well. The original chain and running gear show barely any wear—everything is rust-free and runs smoothly. The frame hinge and clamp parts show minimal wear, and the 16-inch wheels roll freely with the alloy rims retaining their shine. The bike has been carefully cleaned, checked over, and is ready to ride or sit proudly in a collection. Delivery is available via Parcelforce 48 to UK mainland addresses, or collection can be arranged from Crowborough.
